Marie Rolande Lafleur

It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that Mrs. David Léonard Jean François, born Marie Johanne Lafleur, announces the passing of her mother, Marie Rolande Byron Lafleur, on Friday, February 3, 2023, at the age of 86. 

Rolande was born on August 5, 1936 to Leonce Byron and Leonie Ancion in Jacmel, Haiti. In 1973, she met Antonio Lafleur. They were married in 1974 and went on to have one child, Johanne Lafleur. Throughout her life, she was a dedicated mother and loving wife. 

Rolande emigrated from Haiti to the United States in 1999. She joined her sisters in Brooklyn NY. She adapted well to life in the new country and spent much of her time doting on her grandnieces and grandnephews showering them with much love and attention. She was passionate about her cooking and taking care of others. She touched everyone with her love.

Rolande was a dedicated Christian, living her daily life the way Jesus taught her. Rolande attended Our Lady of Miracles, where she practiced her faith as often as possible. She was a person of deep faith. The lord has called her and although soon she will no longer be with us physically, she will remain very much alive in our memory and in our hearts forever.  

Rolande is the youngest of seven siblings: Raymonde Ancion (sister), Fernande Thébaud (sister), Deceased-Laure Bistoury (sister), Gabriel Ancion (brother), Dolorès Byron Jolicoeur (sister), and Antionette Gislaine Byron Bayard (sister). She is survived by Mr. and Mrs. David Leonard Jean François (children), Raymonde Ancion (sister), Fernande Thébaud (sister), and Eileen Zoe Jean François (granddaughter).

C'est avec une profonde tristesse et le cœur lourd que Mme David Léonard Jean François, née Marie Johanne Lafleur, annonce le décès de sa mère, Marie Rolande Byron Lafleur, le vendredi 3 février 2023, à l'âge de 86 ans.

Rolande est née le 5 août 1936 de Léonce Byron et Léonie Ancion à Jacmel, Haïti.  En 1973, elle rencontre Antonio Lafleur.  Ils se sont mariés en 1974 et ont eu un enfant, Johanne Lafleur.  Tout au long de sa vie, elle a été une mère dévouée et une épouse aimante. 

Rolande a émigré d'Haïti aux États-Unis en 1999. Elle a rejoint ses sœurs à Brooklyn NY.  Elle s'est bien adaptée à la vie dans le nouveau pays et a passé une grande partie de son temps à s'occuper de ses petites-nièces et petits-neveux en les comblant d'amour et d'attention.  Elle était passionnée par sa cuisine et s'occupait des autres.  Elle a touché tout le monde avec son amour. 

Rolande était une chrétienne dévouée, vivant sa vie quotidienne comme Jésus le lui avait enseigné.  Rolande fréquente Notre-Dame des Miracles, où elle pratique sa foi le plus souvent possible.  C'était une personne de foi profonde.  Le seigneur l'a appelée et bien que bientôt elle ne sera plus avec nous physiquement, elle restera bien vivante dans notre mémoire et dans nos cœurs pour toujours. 

Rolande est la plus jeune de six frères et sœurs : Raymonde Ancion (sœur), Fernande Thébaud (sœur), Décédée-Laure Bistoury (sœur), Gabriel Ancion (frère), Dolorès Byron Jolicoeur (sœur) et Antionette Gislaine Byron Bayard (sœur).  Elle laisse dans le deuil M. et Mme David Leonard Jean François (enfants), Raymonde Ancion (soeur), Fernande Thébaud (soeur) et Eileen Zoe Jean François (petite-fille).
