Louis Ductan Obituary

Life of Louis Raymond Ductan

Louis Raymond Ductan was born on November 1st 1948 in Dondon, Haiti. He was the second child born of the late Antonio Ductan and Rhesia Lucie Menard Ductan.
He died on September 21, 2022 at 12:40 am.

After his birth in Dondon, a small town near Cap-Haitian, the new born baby went with his mother to Port-de-paix, Haiti where he spent his first 8 years. The family then moved to Port-au-Prince where Raymond lived until he moved to the United States in October 1976. He married Raymonde Romain in Haiti on December 1975. They were married for 46 years.

Raymond was born in an orthodox family, where he received his christian formation. In his teenage years he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior, and was baptized by the late Reverend Claude Noel in Haiti. Raymond has left great memories for family and friends. His best moments were spent with his wife and children, and with his brothers and sisters, whom he loved
without reservation, as well as his cousins. Furthermore, almost all his friends would consider him to be as close as family. He always had time for phone calls from family and friends. The siblings formed a prayer group called “The Ductan Family Prayer Group” and would meet on a weekly basis. In the prayer meetings , Raymond would plead with the Lord for the conversion of his loved ones. When he became sick and was told that he had only a short time to live, he would say to his siblings that nothing in this world is as valuable as a relationship with the Lord and to be with Him in Heaven. When he was asked if he was ready, his answer would be, “may God’s will be done”. On the morning of September 20, 2022, he summoned his brother Ernest to come to the hospital at his bedside and made sure that he spoke for the last time to his wife and his brothers and sisters. That evening about 5:00 pm via telephonic communication, he attended his last prayer meeting with his siblings. The last song that was sung together was from the Chant D’Esperance Francais, number 123 “En Christ Seul Est Mon Esperance”.

Raymond died peacefully at 12:40 am on September 21, 2022. People will remember Raymond for his smiles and his great sense of humor. Yes, he was humorous.
