In Loving Memory of Evens Dostaly
Evens Dostaly, 60, of Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, while under the care of his doctors at Mount Sinai Hospital.
He was born on September 15, 1965, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to Erick Dostaly and Marie Claude Francois.
Evens grew up in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn. He attended Automotive High School, where he developed a lasting appreciation for classic cars. In later years, he made the Coney Island neighborhood his home.
Evens was known for his strong work ethic. He worked as a school bus driver and also spent many years in the security field. Outside of work, he had a deep interest in military history and firearms. He enjoyed reading and studying different gun models and types of ammunition, and he was known for his ability to explain them in remarkable detail.
He is survived by his nine children: Malcolm, Jadah, Sade, Ariel, Tiffany, Erick, Elijah, Rebekah, and Jalen, who will carry forward his memory and legacy. He is also survived by his three grandchildren: Zaire, Caleb, and Jaiden.
Evens leaves behind his loving mother, Marie Claude; his father, Erick; and his stepmother, Gladys. He is further survived by his three sisters, Shela, Ericka, and Alisha, and his two brothers, Louis and Rhony (his twin).
He will also be fondly remembered by his many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members, all of whom will cherish his memory.
A memorial service will be held on March 13, 2026, at 9:00 AM at Deliverance Evangelistic Church in Philadelphia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Recanati/Miller Transplantation Institute at Mount Sinai in New York.
